So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter (2 Thess. 2:15). Guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid the godless chatter and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge, for by professing it some have missed the mark as regards faith (1 Tim. 6:21-22).

Mouldering Dissent | Living like it's 1985

They huddle in the filth ridden back alleys of the internet, yesterday's self proclaimed prophets staring into a pinguid puddle, seeing only blank expressions, their own hollow eyes in front of brains emptied by years of dissent and self-infatuation. You get the idea.

Readers will find below a screen capture of a directory that may be found at a local  website where dissent slumbers in the dank shadows. The website is a digital companion to a newspaper founded by lay men and women of the liberal-religion bent during the tenure of disgraced Bishop-Emeritus Remi J. De Roo. A few hard copies of the rag might be found mouldering in a weathered kiosk outside a local convenience store, or in the bottom of a rabbit cage.

Promoters of said rag/website still cling to the halcyon days of the "Spirit of Vatican II", seeing in Pope Francis a hope that their fading agenda might once again find a home in our Diocese. Fat chance. Emboldened by someone they see as a "progressive" like themselves, it just ain't gonna happen. Contrary to what some might believe, Pope Francis is a loyal son of the Church. He rejected the progressivism and marxism of his Liberation Theology Jesuit brothers as much as he stood against the rightwing dictators who once ruled his beloved Argentina.

How the tables have turned!

The once mighty and proud "progressives" of yesteryear who smashed altars, tore out sanctuary railings, tossed out pews and filled parishes with lacklustre kumbaya ditties, felt banners and frumpy pottery chalices are now embittered devotees of other bitter devotees of relativism who, having practically made themselves irrelevant by their irreverence, prefer the company of those who share warped imaginations similar to those possessed by sectarians of the worldly "churches". The worldly groups, a.k.a. zombie-progressivist communities, are contracepting themselves out of existence. They are convinced, however, that additional relaxations of Apostolic doctrine and practice are needed to prop up their sagging congregations. There is no persuading the liberal-religionists that they are starving to death on what they have been feeding their flocks. That is, a diet of heresy. The Catholic Church offers a much healthier diet: the Bread of Heaven and the Cup of Salvation!

Pentecostal protestant communities are only a few decades behind their older cousins of the "progressive" bent. The same seeds of destruction which have all but brought down the elder houses of Anglicanism, Lutheranism and the United Church of Canada are germinating in charismatic protestant circles. Departures of evangelical and charismatic movers-and-shakers such as Swedish pentecostal megachurch founder Ulf Ekman to Rome, having discovered the truth of Catholicism and the inability of protestantism to withstand the tide of worldly ideologies, should be an alarm bell warning that evangelical and charismatic protestant communities are slipping into a cesspool of confusion that has already trapped the older sects. The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, for example, now equivocate on the issue of divorce and remarriage.
For an excellent article on the pastorally sensitive issue of divorce and remarriage from a Catholic perspective, please refer to Joe Heschmeyer's Divorce and Remarriage in the Case of Adultery: What Does the Bible Really Say?
Why on earth would the Catholic Church ever embrace the agenda of the liberal-progressives when everything that is happening among those groups cited above confirms the wrong direction in which to go? Why tie the Barque of Peter to a fleet of foundering derelicts?

The times they are a changin'!

If our diocese can shake off the detritus of the "Spirit of Vatican II" crowd that once held sway over souls, any diocese can. Every diocese should! To take an effective stand against the soul destroying pseudo-doctrines of the dissidents, it goes without saying that nothing can be done without complete trust in God, deference to the Magisterium and a willingness to equip oneself with the necessary knowledge that allows one to speak the Truth with love. It takes mountains of prayer, a willingness to suffer and the readiness to offer up those sufferings for the good of others. It only takes one saint to turn around a parish.

One must be ever vigilant and oppose every attempt to lobby souls away from the authority of the Magisterium to some pseudo-authority.

Give the excerpt below a peruse, and a chuckle if you wish. Then, say a prayer for these misguided folk who would try again, if they had half a chance, to infiltrate and dominate our schools and parishes with their flaccid form of religion.

At the risk of pointing out the obvious, the excerpt below reads like a who's-who of heresy and dissent. Note the first group listed under Local Progressive Spirituality. That should tell you all you need to know about where certain people's allegiances lie.
